I started webdesigning 4 years ago as an interest and now it is a hobby that I continuously work on to improve.

My first website was the Anne Shirley Home Page. I received DreamWeaver from a friend and started playing around with the tools. I wanted to create a website but I didn't know which topic to use. At the time, I was reading Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. I thought it would be a great idea for the topic of the website so I did some researching. What I found was very few websites dedicated to Anne Shirley or the series, and those that existed were last updated at least a year or two before. This convinced me to create a website dedicated to the fictional red-headed orphan.

I used a bunch of free hosts because I could not afford to buy a domain. Those used include Geocities, Free Webspace, Bravenet, DomainDLX, Photobucket, ImageShack, Amazing Counters, and Quizilla.

The free hosts had these awful pop up ads and ads that distorted my pages naturally. I think I may have lost quite a few potential fanlisting members because the pop-ads bombarded them before they could even see my pages! Needless to say, I needed to purchase a domain, not only because of the ads, but also because of the need for more space and opportunities to expand as a web designer.

I looked for different hosts but decided to stick to Geocities for numerous reasons (it's actually quite decent). Choosing the name was very difficult. I had MANY ideas but they were all fruitless, for they were all taken already. I chose to name this site 'Honey Tart' because I thought the name was cute, though I'm not quite sure it is possible to make a 'Honey Tart'. Regardless, I now believe it was the right choice :).
